Oxford v Adams Recap and Results

The Oxford Wildcat Boys Track and Field are now 2-0 with a victory against Rochester Adams on Wednesday, April 19 at Rochester Adams HS. In the Field, Junior Shot Putters Ben Krause (45’9”), Rick Galbraith (44’6”) and Parker Fleming (44’1”) swept the event while in the Discus, Krause claimed first (129’7”) and Galbraith set a new Personal Record by nearly 5 ft with a throw of 128’10” to place second. In the High Jump Fleming jumped a personal best of 6’2” to take first. Sophomore Anthony Romeo (5’8”) placed 2nd and senior, Ray Luvine (5’6”), shared a 3-way tie for 3rd to claim 8.33 of a possible 9 points in the event. Senior Tray Huntsman (19’7”) placed second in the Long Jump to round out the field.

Juniors Dominic Bruce and Ulises Rodriguez continue to dominate in the distance events. A photo finish 1600m placed Bruce in 1st at 4:39.66, Rodriguez in 2nd at 4:39.90 with sophomore, JJ Bagans, helping out placing 4th in a time of 4:40.46. Bruce and Rodriguez also claimed first and second in the 3200m. Senior Riley Feeney set a blistering pace in the 400m with a personal best time of 51.94 while freshman Scott Masterson placed second in the 800m in 2:03. Crushing Rochester Adams 4x800m relay team were Oxfords Masterson, juniors Zachariah Smith and Sam McMaken and Feeney in a time of 8:18. In the sprints an excited 4x100m team with seniors Tray Huntsman, Jack Rinke and Gage Cabanillas and junior Peter Bagans placed first in 46:11. Senior Chris Hankins (11.26) placed first in the 100m dash with Cabanillas (11.47) taking third. Peter Bagans (23.72) lost the 200m “by a lean” as he posted the same time as Rochester Adams () while Cabanillas (23.85) placed third. In the 300m hurdles, freshman Shane Ross (43.96) placed 2nd and senior Tanner Saxon (44.03) placed third. Head Coach Matt Johnson said “The other teams are starting to talk about us (Oxford boys). They are saying we are going to be a tough team to beat.”

The Oxford girls team faced a tough Rochester Adams team but junior Micah Dymond was able to claim 1st in the 100m Hurdles (17.37) and freshman Antonia Vackaro placed 1st in the 100m sprint (12.66). Dymond also had a photo finish in the 300m hurdles, placing 2nd in 52.07 while Vackaro took in the 200m (27.4). The 4x100m girls team of was ecstatic with their 54.64 sec victory. Throwers continue to perform well across the league as junior Jessica Campbell placed 2nd in both the Shot Put (30’5”) and in the Discus (94’8”) achieving a personal best. Senior Jacinta Hogan place 3rd in the Discus (84’8”) and freshman Gihon Maxwell placed 3rd in the Shot Put (27’4”).
