Recap and Look Ahead: Championship Week Edition

What an exciting way to end the regular season!!! Senior Night at Oxford Stadium versus the Wolves of Clarkston High School did not disappoint! With the Girls Team Victory over Clarkston well in hand with a score of 109-19, the Boys Team needed a first place finish in the final event, Boys High Jump, to secure the victory.

Valen Kurmaniak of Clarkston High School and Oxford's very own, Dylan Stone, were battling for the top spot. Having left all other competitors behind several heights earlier, Dylan and Valen matched height for height. Both having cleared 5'8", the bar was raised to 5' 10". Only one jumper was able to clear the bar at that height. With the entire Oxford team clapping and cheering him on, Dylan Stone cleared the bar and secured the victory 66-62!!!

Scoring Points for the Wildcats:

The victories by both the Girls and Boys teams were a total group effort. With several of our top performers missing from the line-up, many athletes were competing out of their normal events with some athletes scoring points in field events they had never competed in before!

Where do we go from here?:

The meet against Clarkston brought the regular season to a close. The Girls Team finished the regular season 3-1 with the Boys Team finishing at 2-2. Now we move on to the Championship Phase of the season! That begins this Friday, May 14th, when both teams will be competing in the OAA Red/White Championship to be held at Rochester Adams High School. You can find all of the information for that meet HERE!

You can find the schedule for the remainder of the season by following this link. Please note, there is a chance that we will be adding one more meet to the schedule. We are just waiting to hear back from the host school. Also of note, please make sure you pay special attention to any and all announcements over the coming weeks. None of our remaining meets are "total team events". Meaning, there will be specific sets of athletes that attend these meets.
